Dr Heidi Douglass Registered Clinical Psychologist

Working online or via telephone for clients based in New Zealand

Kia ora, I am a Clinical Psychologist and I love my job.

In my teens, I wished that I had an off switch on my brain so that I could switch off my anxiety. Although that was not possible, I had a Psychologist help me out of some unhappy spots so I know how hard it can be to show up and talk about how you feel. You can rest assured that I am a friendly, warm and welcoming, non judgey female and I create a safe space so that you can feel free to talk about anything that feels helpful to you.

I am a compassionate and empathetic good listener. I am a collaborator and I teach evidence-based skills and strategies so that you can feel more at ease in your body and mind. I am an open minded, liberal thinker and I am safe for our LGBTQ+ whanau and people of all races, religions and backgrounds.

I was born in the USA, but have lived in the UK and in New Zealand since 2010. I know how hard it can be to adjust to living in a new culture. I am a mother of two grown children in their 20s.

I have the highest level of training in mental health recognized by the government – a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Boston University. I only offer treatment that research studies have proven effective to resolve symptoms. I put in great effort to help my clients to feel better. I teach you new ways to interact with your thoughts and help you to build a life worth living. I have several decades of clinical expertise to bring about change and I do so in a way that is fun, doable and not boring.
