Nicole Hampton Counselling

You Deserve Support Wherever You Are

Kia ora, I’m Nicole Hampton. I’m a counsellor providing compassionate, professional support online to clients right across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Alongside my personal lived experiences, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Victoria University) and a Master’s in Counselling (Massey University), and I’m a registered member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), practising in accordance with their Code of Ethics. Over my career, I’ve gained extensive experience across acute mental health, adult, and youth counselling settings.

My particular area of expertise is supporting people who have experienced trauma. As a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner, I offer this well-researched, highly effective approach for processing difficult memories — and it works just as well online as it does in person, backed by research and client success stories.

I have experience supporting the Rainbow community and warmly welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds, fostering a sense of safety and acceptance.

I understand that reaching out can feel like a big step. Whatever you’re carrying — trauma, PTSD, anxiety, the effects of past abuse, or a period of acute distress, I aim to offer a warm, steady, non-judgmental space where you can explore it at your own pace. I believe deeply that every person has the capacity to heal, and I see my role as walking alongside you toward recovery and resilience.

Because sessions are online, there’s no travel or waiting room — just meaningful, accessible support from wherever feels most comfortable and private to you, helping you feel at ease from the start.

Your initial consultation is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation to see whether we’re the right fit. There’s no commitment required, and I’m always happy to answer any questions first.

FAQs

Q Will it feel as personal as in-person therapy?

Yes — most clients are pleasantly surprised. The therapeutic relationship that develops online can be just as deep and meaningful as one formed in person.

Q Can EMDR be done online?

Absolutely. EMDR adapts very well to the online format. I use specialist techniques to deliver EMDR effectively via video, and research supports its equivalence to in-person delivery.

Q How many sessions will I need?

It varies from person to person — there's no fixed number. Some people find a few sessions is enough, while others prefer ongoing support. I'll work with you to find an approach and pace that suits your needs.

Q How much will it cost?

- Sessions are $140 for a one-hour session.
- If you're eligible for ACC funded counselling, your sessions may be covered — just mention this when you get in touch and I can guide you through it.
