I am an experienced counsellor with over 18 years supporting people achieve positive change. I am passionate about health / wellbeing, and will provide a safe environment to support your work towards your preferred future.
My interest and areas of strength in the counselling include helping individuals (young adults and adults) to make sense of what is going on, to help get unstuck from challenges, and to move forward with what matters most to you.
Counselling can be a space to land / to be heard / to learn or remember coping skills, and to connect to your true / wise self. I will walk alongside you to help you achieve your goals, be they relational, emotional, work or study related, or in generally living life aligned more to your values.
Issues that I work with most regularly include:
A bit about me is that I’m originally from The Netherlands and have grown up in Green Bay, West Auckland. Since qualifying as a counsellor I have worked in different professional roles including, alcohol and drug clinician, counsellor, and mental health advisor at tertiary settings (AUT and Unitec). My training background is varied and includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma informed care, compassion-focussed, somatic approaches and more.
My approach is informed by a genuine sense of care, warmth and understanding of what it means to be human (with all its gifts and challenges). I work collaboratively, meaning that we create the sense of working together as a team to support your goals and enhancing your sense of wellbeing. I have worked with many different people over the years and feel very privileged to be able to do this work and to continue to learn and grow alongside the people I meet with.
