Keri Onyewu

ROAR Integrative Functional Counselling and High Performance Coaching

Kia ora, I’m Keri – an experienced Counsellor, Human Performance Coach, and Clinical Supervisor with a strong commitment to reflective, ethical, and growth-oriented practice across every aspect of my work.

For many years, I have worked with individuals, couples, groups, and teams seeking not only relief from distress, but a deeper, more sustainable way of living and functioning. My clients may be navigating trauma, anxiety, pressure, transition, or emotional strain; others come to strengthen resilience, expand self-awareness, enhance performance, and create meaningful change in their personal or professional lives.

My approach is integrative, thoughtful, and highly tailored. Drawing on counselling, coaching, nervous system regulation, and somatic practice, I offer work that is both compassionate and discerning – attentive to the whole person and responsive to their unique history, needs, and aspirations. Central to my philosophy is the belief that even in the midst of difficulty, people carry capacities and wisdom that can be engaged in service of healing, growth, and transformation.

I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling at Swansea University in 1997, and have since undertaken extensive further training in trauma, addictions, mental health, mindfulness, hypnotherapy, somatic approaches, supervision, and performance-focused practice.

My professional training also includes HeartMath and polyvagal-informed work, including the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP), and Integrated Listening System (ILS), all of which can support nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and deeper therapeutic integration.

I have a longstanding interest in the relationship between body and mind, and where appropriate I may incorporate movement, exercise, and somatic modalities such as Feldenkrais, Tai Chi, resistance training, gym-based support, and massage-based work.

In addition, my training in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) and Hair Mineral Analysis allows me to bring a broader, more holistic lens to wellbeing when relevant.

My practice is particularly well suited to those who are motivated, open-minded, and ready to engage deeply in the process of change – people seeking a thoughtful, high-quality, and individualised therapeutic experience.
