Areas of Special Interest
Grief, loss, terminal illness, anxiety, depression, behavioural issues, relationships, trauma, abuse, anger management, stress, parenting, youth, infertility, and any areas where you wish to gain understanding and make positive changes in your life.
I’m passionately interested and curious about my clients. My supervisor spoke to me of her wonderings of what led her client to be the person who is sitting in front of her now and how could she help them gain awareness and skills to work towards making the positive changes they wished for going forward? This spoke directly to my own sense of each person whom I work with. I respect the courage it so often takes to come to counselling and I offer a safe, warm and confidential environment where we will focus on empowering you to achieve your goals, whatever they might be. I love to truly listen and hear your story with respect and without judgement, (how often does that happen to us)? I will work to help you identify your existing strengths and resources, and to help you learn new skills that you can use to make positive choices in your life from now on.
You will not be alone in this process – we will be working together.
I tailor my approach to suit the issues my client brings, and to suit the time they may have for counselling. Each individual is unique, so I will adapt my approach to suit. Methods that I draw from in my practice are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focussed Therapy, Person Centred, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt Therapy, relaxation techniques and Behavioural Therapy.
While I cannot have exactly experienced your particular issues in life, my own challenges and training has given me insight and awareness’s of how I might help others through their troubles. I believe it’s a counsellor’s job to make themselves redundant, and as you become who or where you wish to be, my role lessens.

Background and Experience
I have been in private practice now for over 13 years and have also worked as a Counselling Education Tutor for about 5 years. I am a mother of one adult child and a cat. I would consider myself a relatively late bloomer due to constraints in my own background which finally led me to personal counselling and then on to training in this field. The training never stops, nor does the learning. It is my client’s stories, courage and commitment to take charge of their life and make positive changes that motivates me in my work.
Prior to my counselling life I worked for corporate and private companies in the roles of both sales and administration.
