Counselling Services

I work with compassion and humour, using encouragement and empowerment to make my client feel at ease. Seeing the client as the expert on their own life, I work alongside them to identify issues causing distress, highlight their strengths and identify areas that need change.

Counselling Approach

I spend time developing the counselling relationship and building up trust and respect. I use a variety of approaches to build resiliency, to increase a sense of well-being and learn new skills to overcome adversity. Approaches include Client Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Holistic Models of Wellbeing, Neuro-science, Solution Focused.

About Me

My background and experience is in counselling, supervision, teaching, and social services including:

  • Private Practice counselling and supervision,
  • Teaching in secondary, middle and primary schools in NZ, Australia and UK
  • School Guidance Counselling with adolescents, families and school staff in 3 NZ secondary schools
  • Community Services Officer

I have family in Auckland, Wellington and the UK, I’m married with an adult daughter. When I have free time I love to sail and am a registered Day Skipper. The outdoors is my happy place – sailing, walking, cycling and swimming.

Supervision Services

I believe that Supervision should be affirming and restorative. To this end I work alongside supervisees to respectfully explore the safety and effectiveness of their practice, encouraging them to share their strengths and vulnerabilities. In particular, I focus on professional and personal growth, as well as monitoring my supervisee’s health and wellbeing to guard against professional overload or burnout. I mostly work with counsellors and people within the education profession, but welcome enquiries from other workplaces.
