Areas of Special Interest
Anxiety and related disorders, depression and low mood, stress, trauma related issues, struggles with self-criticism, shame and perfectionistic traits.
I work alongside you to process your difficulties, enhance self-awareness, and develop skills and strategies that encourage positive change. This process will be guided by therapeutic techniques that have shown to be effective, as well as by your individual needs, values and goals.
My interests include helping people who struggle with self-criticism and shame by developing the skill of self-compassion, which involves treating ourselves with kindness and embracing who we are. When working alongside young people, my approach is very creative and adaptive, encouraging a feeling of relevance and inclusion.
The therapeutic approaches that I am trained in are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Psychosomatic Interventions. I use an evidenced based approach that will best suit your needs. .

Background and Experience
Originally, I trained and deployed overseas as a New Zealand Defence Force Medic. During this time I developed an interest in psychological wellbeing and its effects on physical health, which lead to a change of career. Since becoming a psychologist, I have worked alongside children, adolescents and adults, in a government funded setting as well as privately.
