Martin Putt

Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Supervisor, Trainer

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (PBANZ #630), a Certified Psychodramatist and TEPit with AANZPA and its current President (2019-2023). I am also a full member of NZAP.

I offer short-term and long-term counselling and psychotherapy for  general life issues and concerns and for more specialist problem areas.

If for any reason I do not feel that I am suitably qualified to, or able to, work with your presenting issues I will let you know as early on so you might find someone more suitable.

Areas of Special Interest

Working with men and young men and the issues presenting in your life is of special interest to me. These may be struggles with oneself or relationship difficulties or other areas related to health & wellbeing. Alongside these general areas, I have developed a clinical specialism over many years working with those sexual behaviours in men and adolescents that are unwanted, out of control and/or harmful to others.

Counselling/Therapy Services

Sometimes we all need the space to take time out to reflect on what’s going on with us or to talk to someone outside our immediate family and friends; a trained, experienced professional, who can assist us to think and feel deeper into our life, work and relationships.

As we do this we may begin to feel more human, more in balance and more able to warm up to our own spontaneity, vitality, flexibility, originality and creativity in response to what is required – be it coming to some resolutions, developing or strengthening aspects of ourselves, accepting and letting go of old habits that are no longer helpful, moving forward, and ‘leaning into’ our lives in a more dynamic or committed way.

Therapy can assist in clarifying the underlying needs, wishes, and values through which we live our lives. Speaking in confidence and finding one’s own way to notice and express our experience to a sensitive and attentive other can result in a widening of our perspective and beginning to experience new understandings and insights into ourselves. We begin to feel more at ease, integrated and more alive in our own skin. This is often experienced as greater freedom to be yourself.

If this sounds like something important for you right now give me a call.
