Areas of Special Interest
Anxiety, depression, management of stress, improved relationships and communication skills, work issues, grief and loss, illness, self acceptance, unconsciously held beliefs and habits from past experience, bodymind awareness, mindfulness, meditation and spirituality.
Do you want to nourish yourself and have your life nourish you, do you want to feel more alive, are you longing for an inner calm?
In our sessions we will discover and explore your issues, work to identify and resolve needs, establish contact with your kind compassionate self and build practical supportive strategies for living.
I use a blend of Western Psychology, Eastern Mindfulness and Body Centred therapy to gently explore unconsciously held emotional beliefs and habit patterns and to promote growth beyond conflict and limitations.
Therapy can help you to:
- explore the tensions you are carrying
- develop practical strategies for lowering anxiety and stress
- release unproductive habit patterns and beliefs
- increase your understanding of yourself
- treat yourself with kindness
- grow confidence and lift mood
- find an internal attitude of aliveness and inner calm
I aim to enable a person to find and know what they value and is right for them beyond long held fixed attitudes and beliefs.
I take a mindfulness-based approach to self-understanding. I am interested in working with the body and the mind and the interaction between the two. The body expresses what is going on in our lives and in our selves, it is a voice for our internal experience, dilemmas and obstacles. By learning to be attentive to our bodies we develop a clarity about what is causing us to feel distressed, pressured or overwhelmed and equally what makes us feel good. From here we can move forward and foster positive responses and specific strengths.

Background and Experience
I have 23 years experience of private practice in BodyMind Therapies, including 20 years in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have worked as a therapist at CourtenayMedical Practice, Wellington Women's Health Collective and the Natural Health Centre Wellington. I have been a tutor at the NZ School of Massage and course director for smoking cessation and well-being programmes. I have a lifelong interest in meditation and body-centred practices both personally and professionally.
A favourite quote: The mind likes what the mind likes, so we need to be mindful of the mind.
‘Hardwiring Happiness’ Dr Rick Hanson (Neuropsychologist and Mindfulness teacher).
I am available to provide supervision to counsellors, allied health practitioners and case managers. I bring my experience as a counsellor, mindbody therapist and massage therapist to my work as a supervisor. I endeavour to help supervisees look at their clients through a holistic lens, linking understandings of neuroscience, psychology, and mindfulness.
A therapist may like to expand their understanding of the mind body interface and mindfulness. I will help you explore how you experience yourself, your client and the relationship, using enquiry, reflection and mindfulness.
