Al Wilkinson

Registered Psychotherapist

Are you looking for change, but you’re not sure where to start?

I am a registered Psychotherapist, working with individuals and couples from all walks of life to identify what is causing distress, and how to remove obstacles to growth.

Whether you come with a specific issue, or a generalised sense that life could be better, I’m happy to talk about how we could work together.

First, we’ll meet to discuss your goals. I’ll ask some questions and you can do the same. Then I suggest you have a think about whether I’m the right fit for you. If, for any reason, I think another therapist would be better for you, I will let you know.

Once we agree to work together, we’ll find a regular weekly 50 minute slot (or 1hr 20min for couples), which I will set aside specifically for you.

What is your style?

I am trained as a psychodynamic therapist, which involves exploring unconscious thoughts, past experiences, and relationship patterns. Uncovering these hidden dynamics provides deep insight, helping you resolve recurring emotional conflicts and create growth. I also integrate philosophies from other styles of working. In me you will find an optimistic, solutions-based approach, which puts you and your needs at the heart of the work.

How long does it take?

The simple answer is that you will be the judge. We can talk about this at the beginning, and again throughout our working relationship. Some clients find that 6 to 8 sessions are enough. Most of my clients work with me longer terms, between 3 months a several years.
