Amanda Shribman

Effective and compassionate counselling for you in Hauraki/Takapuna

Kia ora, I’m Amanda, and I’m a counsellor dedicated to supporting young people and adults on the North Shore and online. While I’m originally from England, Aotearoa has been my cherished home for many years.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling with Distinction from the University of Auckland. My work includes a part-time role as a guidance counsellor at a local college, and I have a private practice in Hauraki, Takapuna. I offer counselling services to help you navigate life’s challenges, whatever they may be.

I truly believe that counselling can benefit everyone, whatever your age or beliefs. Taking that step into therapy can be a pivotal point for positive change and personal growth. My approach is person-centred, focusing on building respectful and compassionate relationships with each of my clients. To help you get a sense of how we might work together, I offer a free 15-minute initial phone consultation.

In my practice, I use a variety of methods specifically tailored to your unique needs. As a client-centred and pluralistic practitioner, I integrate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Art Therapy, along with various mindfulness practices to help reduce stress. I’ve studied both in New Zealand and internationally, and have over twenty years of experience, including roles as a tertiary teacher and leader, and always stay current with the latest research and techniques to offer you the most effective support.
