My style of therapy is down to earth, real, and focused on how you experience your world, both internally and externally. Regardless of what you might be struggling with, if it’s holding you back or making your life uncomfortable, I aim to help you make sense of it and to towards a life that works for you. I have training in a range of treatment approaches, and I can tailor them to suit your needs, which may change over time.
I can provide time-limited therapy, usually between 12 and 16 sessions, as well as brief interventions, and longer term therapy, depending on what you are looking for.
I have training in psychodynamic therapy as well as a range of treatment methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Transactional Analysis (TA), and Object Relations Therapy. My approach is rooted in the humanistic tradition, which views everyone as whole and individual. I believe that you have everything you need already to heal or change whatever you are struggling with; sometimes we just need a little help to see things from a different perspective.
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2017, and I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. I worked in psychiatric hospitals in South Africa with adults with severe mental health difficulties as well as in community settings.
I moved to New Zealand in 2018 and worked for the Department of Corrections for two years, after which I opened a private practice in Lower Hutt. I am qualified in Level 1 EMDR therapy and aiming to complete Level 2 training in 2022.
