Individual Therapy

Life can be challenging. At times, we can feel confused, overwhelmed, lost, anxious, depressed, lonely – other times we might experience something painful and unexpected that really throws us off balance. Whether it’s for a short time or a long time, it can be profoundly helpful to have someone empathic, curious and honest to talk to about what you are experiencing.

I provide relational psychotherapy to individuals who are seeking support with the challenges of living, mental health, or personal development. I particularly enjoy working with younger adults (18 – to early 30’s) in building supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationships. I help people deepen self-understanding and discover new and more fulfilling ways of being themselves in the world.

What is Relational Psychotherapy?

Significant research has found the quality of our relationships is the most powerful determinant of overall emotional well-being and happiness in life. As social beings, who we become is largely determined by our relational experiences, needs and interpretations. Relational psychotherapy is an effective treatment offering an opportunity to explore the impact of your relationships on you and how this may influence your present experience.

The therapeutic relationship also serves as a meaningful human connection, one in which you can access empathy, compassion, honesty and curiosity. By building relational self-understanding within the relationship, you can know more about who you are and how you got here – empowering you to find new, authentic and liberating ways of being yourself.

It is an unstructured therapy, we talk and respond to what is needed.

Q Background

I'm from Aotearoa New Zealand and spent a significant period of time backpacking all around the world, and living overseas. I currently work for an organisation providing psychotherapy to survivors of sexual violence.

I have experience at Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai, with clients experiencing complex mental health concerns in individual and group settings, and provided therapy to young adults at AUT Integrated Health. I have also worked in financial hardship, crisis counselling, and various roles in a global (non-religious) spiritual personal development organisation.
