Anna Smith

Registered Psychotherapist

Kia ora, I’m Anna (she/her).

You may be feeling overwhelmed by anger, shame, anxiety, addiction, relationship conflict, workplace stress, redundancy, or the pressure of navigating change.

I work with people who want to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the deeper patterns beneath distress, especially when old ways of coping no longer seem to work.

I support people with complex PTSD, trauma, addiction and recovery, anger issues, and depression and anxiety. I also work with couples around communication, infidelity, conflict, polyamory, and the challenge of staying connected while feeling different.

I offer an affirming space for LGBTQI+ clients and others who may not always feel easily understood. My style is warm, direct, and practical. I believe mental health is not one-size-fits-all, and we each need to find a version of wellbeing that feels honest, sustainable, and our own.

FAQs

Q How do I start

First we will meet to discuss your goals or issues. I ask some questions and you may have some questions too. The aim of the initial contact is for you to decide whether I am the right fit for you. If I think another therapist might be better suited for you, I will make a recommendation.

Q Short term therapy or Ongoing Therapy

- If you have a specific goal or issue or have had a distressing life event such as separation or redundancy, short-term therapy may be for you.
- For more long-standing or recurring concerns, ongoing therapy that uncovers your core beliefs, emotions, and attitudes is appropriate.
