Anne Holleron

I am a registered psychotherapist, also trained in therapeutic massage and counselling. I have 12 years experience supporting people during times of change, pain and challenge. I offer an integrated approach to talking therapy with a focus on re-connecting minds, bodies and hearts. We often seek support for our thoughts and feelings in one place and help for our bodies in another. Yet we now know that there is no real separation between the two. I am interested in making practical space within talking therapy for the body to speak and to show us the way toward health and vitality.

I offer therapy in the following areas:

  • trauma
  • chronic illness
  • body issues
  • sexuality and gender identity
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • various mood disorders
  • relationship concerns
  • the struggle to feel at home in one’s body
  • work place challenges
  • grief/ change
  • meaninglessness/ lack of direction in life.

How I will work with you

I offer a safe, warm, confidential environment where you will be seen as a whole person. I will talk with you about any present or historical challenges you have by exploring  your thoughts and emotions as we pay attention to and work therapeutically with what is also happening within your body. Physical signs we may observe together during your session can include changes in breathing, muscular tension, numbness, emotion, pain, general body sensations and differences in temperature as can happen during anxiety, depression and trauma. How we work together will depend on what issues are significant for you and what your needs are for each session which we will discuss at the start of your appointment.

The benefits of integrating the body into talking therapy

We experience ourselves, others and the world initially through our bodies and yet it is very common for many of us to be cut off from them and instead to be living only in our heads. I will support you to access more of yourself and your authenticity during our sessions and this will continue as you go out into the world. I will help you to develop an increasing awareness of your emotions and thoughts by encouraging you to notice what is happening on a body level. Our work together will enable you to feel more at home within yourself as well as with others as you grow in emotional awareness and gain an expanding capacity for vitality and pleasure.
