Carla Zurne

Trauma Therapist / Counsellor

Tēnā koe. My name is Carla Zurnē (pronouns she/her).

A Path Toward Lasting Growth. Healing is a journey that often begins with a single step toward support. I provide trauma-informed therapy dedicated to facilitating positive, lasting growth and meaningful change in a way that respects your unique pace and story.

Specialized EMDR Trauma Recovery. As a trained clinician in EMDR therapy, I collaborate closely with you to understand how your past shapes your present. Prioritizing safety and stability, we develop tools to manage difficult emotions and ground you in the present. EMDR supports your brain’s natural healing, transforming distressing memories into resolved stories, empowering you to regain resilience and confidence. Additionally, in practice, I draw on models such as Te Whare Tapa Whā (to ensure your mental, physical, spiritual, and family well-being are all held in balance) and weave together aspects of modalities – such as Solution Focussed, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapies combined with breathwork and mindfullness practices – to meet clients specific needs.

Specialized Support Areas:

  • Being an ACC-registered provider, I have a strong commitment to working with clients who have experienced sexual harm, providing specialized care to navigate trauma’s complex effects.
  • The Rainbow Community: Providing a safe, affirming space.
  • Addiction and Recovery: Uncover patterns or traumas that often underpin addictive behaviours.
  • Mental Health: Navigating anxiety, depression and emotional distress such as grief and anger.

Flexible, Client-Centered Sessions. I offer one-on-one therapy sessions from my purpose-built office in Upper Moutere Village, providing a private and peaceful environment for our work. I am also available for online sessions, making support accessible wherever you may be.
