Carol-Anne Weaver

Ponsonby Therapy Centre

For me, successful therapy is one in which the client is able to know themselves better and develop tools that enable a more expansive life.

I am experienced in working with people that have experienced sexual abuse and trauma, those that experience anxiety, low self confidence, behaviour and relationship issues. I enjoy working with adolescents 13+.

Counselling Services

My purpose is to help clients from all backgrounds feel safe and understood, enabling them to gain a deeper sense of self. I do this by demonstrating unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathy and providing clients with a safe and supportive space to address their thoughts and feelings.

I believe that working together to identify and name strengths enables a client to address any negative core beliefs, memories, patterns and underlying issues that can cause unhelpful cycles of behaviours and relationships. This helps individuals to become more confident in themselves and face difficulties and challenges in their life in a more self-aware manner. Working on creating healthy relationships for the client outside of therapy

Counselling Approach

I work from a person centred approach, tailoring each session to meet the needs of the individual, drawing on my wide range of skills from DBT, ACT, Solution Focused and Sand Play to create an environment where clients feel comfortable engaging fully in the client-therapist relationship.

Experience

For the past 12 years I have worked in an agency that specialises in working with survivors of Sexual Abuse.

Supervision Services

I provide clinical supervision. This is an opportunity for counsellors to discuss their practice, receive support and obtain guidance to help them deal with any professional or personal issues that may be impacting upon their work.

I provide discount rates for training counsellors who are seeking supervision.
