Raised in rural the New Zealand, I currently live in Wellington – Te Whanganui-a-Tara. I enjoy lateral thinking and I feel fortunate to be able to have conversations with people that are often useful and helpful.
Counselling itself can happen in a a variety of different ways depending on what you’re after. Sometimes that is simply a safe place to have a conversation or download of what’s going on; sometimes it is searching together for something specific to do in changing the current situation; and sometimes conversations are more about identity – who am I, and how can I live my best life? I aim to provide a safe, collaborative environment for helpful conversations.
There are a range of approaches to counselling. And although I don’t claim to adhere strictly to one modality, my practice encompasses elements from several different types of counselling. You may find elements from approaches such as Client Centred Practice, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing among others.
In many ways counselling can look like talking with a trusted friend or elder, but there are differences. Counsellors are specifically trained, receive ongoing professional supervision and training, and are completely private. Counsellors are also not in your usual family or social circles.
You are welcome to have a quick zoom or phone call if you would like to see if I would be a good fit. I’m also happy to answer any questions, and there’s no pressure to commit to meeting with me.
A meeting with me is currently $110. If you hold a Community Services Card I can offer a small number of discounted sessions. Feel free to get in touch to discuss this ; there's no commitment required :-)
Currently I am only able to meet remotely (zoom or phone)
