Clarke Millar

Psychotherapy for Hope and Change

Kia ora, my name is Clarke Millar and I am a New Zealand Registered Psychotherapist and Social Worker. I have been practicing as a qualified mental health professional for over 20 years.

I offer collaborative, trauma-sensitive therapy with multi-stressed individuals, caregivers and couples. As a therapist with significant clinical and management leadership experience, I offer supervision to a range of allied health professionals.

Collaborative therapy is about supporting your preferred direction in life and best hopes for the future. Hope, and the expectation of change, is a significant contributing factor to positive outcomes in psychotherapy. Positive change is much more likely to occur in the context of a therapeutic relationship that is experienced as genuinely safe and warm.

I am trained in a number of specific treatment techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P).  I am informed by a range of other therapeutic approaches, including Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT); Collaborative Therapy; Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).

I am currently based at Paraparaumu Beach, Kāpiti Coast.
