Dawn’s Counselling Services – Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Relationship’s

In this world there is no need to be alone

I love life and people, we are interesting, unique, sometimes fun, sometimes not… we can be quiet, we can be loud, we are fine on our own and we love company. What we all need at some point is someone to listen ~ Try me, you may be surprised.

Counselling Services

I CURRENTLY HAVE AVAILABILITY ON A TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY

I can assist adults, couples and families with problems they are currently encountering such as; life purpose, life changes, grief, loss, difficulties encountered, chronic and acute stress, work-related stress, abuse both mental and physical, anxiety, depression, relationships, confidence, self-esteem, communication. I can also assist with coming to terms with issues caused by events in the past such as abandonment, sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, post traumatic stress, lack of self confidence, identity crisis, low self-esteem, withdrawal and isolation.

I work by utilising my skills, abilities, experience and knowledge to work alongside you, the client, to help identify the problems, issues and perhaps identify where you are ‘stuck’. I can then assist in dealing with these problems and issues by attempting to achieve your identified desires and goals while maintaining your values and beliefs.

Should I not be sufficiently skilled in the type of therapy my client requires then I am responsible both ethically and morally to refer my client onto a more suitable therapist. I do not generally work with children or acute addiction clients as I personally believe these are specialised areas.

Counselling Approach

Our world can be a difficult place at times to live in; modern day pressure sometimes is all too much. I am an eclectic therapist, which means an open, integrative form of therapy that adapts to your unique needs. I work to agreed treatment goals and your expectation, initially using Person Centred therapy as a base to build a safe trusting collaborative relationship.

Then I may use other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to assist you in exploring new ways of thinking and behaving. Also Gestalt and Solution focused, Dialectic and Motivational Therapy in an attempt to improve your life, your future and your happiness. My aim is to keep you safe, develop awareness’s and form goals you wish to achieve, if that is what you desire.

Background and Experience

Prior to becoming a Counsellor my Career was in Administration and Management, I worked with many people both in a training and motivational situation. In 2010 I decided to study full time in order to become a Counsellor and work in an area I am both passionate about and believe very good at. I carried out my vocational practice in Counselling during 2013 and Graduated in January 2014. I have worked both in private practice and at a Community Centre for the past 10 years.
