Dr Andrew Greaves

Counselling Psychologist

I am a Counselling Psychologist with over ten years experience. Having the space to talk, reflect and learn alternative ways of coping is an essential part of both developing and maintaining well-being.

I can support and have experience in working with a variety of difficulties including but not limited to:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • PTSD and C-PTSD
  • specific phobias
  • relationship difficulties
  • self-development

Counselling/Therapy Services

My aim is to create a warm, caring and safe space to help clients build a better understanding of their current difficulties and explore ways together to manage more effectively in living. Each person is unique and will need different things from therapy. I work collaboratively with you to help identify what you would like from therapy and how you might achieve it.

Life can throw up various challenges and it can be hard to manage these alone. Having the space to talk, understand and develop tools to manage more effectively can help us live our life to the fullest.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

I use a number of evidence based approaches to help you manage your current difficulties. Lots of different things can be helpful so I aim to tailor my approach to fit with your current needs.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Schema Therapy
  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
  • Client Centred Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

About Me

I studied and trained to be a Counselling Psychologist at the University of Manchester in the UK.

While in the UK I worked for the NHS for 5 and a half years. I supported adults with general mental health problems including depression, anxiety disorders, trauma and adjustment problems. I tended to work on a short term therapy basis supporting people to recovery between 6-12 sessions.

In the latter of my time in London, I moved into a management position and attained a specialist title working with more long-term and enduring mental health problems.

In the past year and a half I relocated to New Zealand and work within Auckland Prison with some of the most vulnerable and distressed men in the country.
