Dr Casey Mendiola

Online Clinical Psychologist

I am not currently accepting new clients. I will be accepting clients for September 2026 (including ACC sensitive claims and ACC birth injury for in person sessions in Tauranga. I will also have some spaces for online self-funded sessions).

Before then regarding ACC sensitive claims I recommend contacting www.thetherapycollective.co.nz or using this website: https://www.safetotalk.nz/

Kia ora,

I am a clinical psychologist originally from Whakatāne (Ngāti Awa). I have worked in Community Mental Health and PHO settings, as well as privately and with ACC.

I enjoy working collaboratively with people who are being affected by a wide range of difficultiesThese may include, but are not limited to:

  • Trauma

  • Depression/feeling down

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Feeling overwhelmed and struggling to cope

  • Fear

  • Grief and loss
  • Loss of motivation and enjoyment from life

  • Difficulty problem solving

  • Difficulty managing emotions

I’m sure you have tried several ways to get rid of your painful thoughts and feelings, which may work in the short-term, but with not much long-term success.

I can work together with you to gain insight into yourself and look at strategies and skills that can help you to cope. I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you reach your goals.

Things we may work on can include:

  • Figuring out your values – what truly matters to you and using these to help you act more like the person you want to be

  • Learning to self-care and manage stress effectively
  • Increased coping skills – being able to be flexible and bounce back from stressors

  • Better understanding of what is going on inside your body and mind, and better connection to yourself and body

  • Learning to make space for uncomfortable feelings and thoughts, managing these more effectively so they no longer have as much influence and impact on you.
  • Making meaningful relationships and connections

  • Learning how to be kind and compassionate to yourself and others

  • Process traumatic memories so they no longer impact you in the present
