Dr Gavin Stansfield

Online Psychotherapy and Clinical Supervision

Kia ora and welcome

I originally trained as a medical doctor at the University of Cape Town and worked in a range of general medical, hospice, and mental health settings. I pretty much always had a holistic approach, but I eventually became more and more interested in the inner life of my patients than time allowed.

I therefore trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist at Auckland Institute of Technology and went through the five year case study process of the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists (now APANZ).

Besides being a psychotherapist for many years, I enjoy being a clinical supervisor for nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, counsellors, and therapists – especially those working in hospice and palliative care.

I offer online psychotherapy and clinical supervision sessions from my home in Katikati, in the Bay of Plenty, and am also available for group supervision in the Western BOP region.

All enquiries are welcome.
