Grace Kim Psychology: Understanding, Healing, Becoming.

I am Here to Help

Are you struggling with:
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • suicidal ideation
  • grief, low sense of worth
  • relationship difficulties
  • adjustment difficulties
  • and/or other mental health related difficulties?

I trained at the University of Auckland and completed a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology in 2007. Since then I have worked at Community Mental Health Center (adults) in DHB and private practices. In addition to working with adults in New Zealand, I have supported expatriate individuals and families in Korea. I also served as a university lecturer in Korea for six years, where I developed a deep passion for mentoring young adults.

As a Korean immigrant, I moved to New Zealand in 1999 after growing up in South Korea and Thailand. My cross-cultural journey continued into adulthood as I lived and worked in various countries and cultural settings, including Spain, Laos, and UAE. These experiences have fostered a strong interest in cross-cultural transitions and adjustment. I am open, curious, and committed to understanding and supporting people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Therapeutic Approach

I enjoy working in collaborative, compassionate, and genuine manner with my clients. I warmly invite you to begin a journey of Understanding. Healing. Becoming. A path toward greater self-awareness, emotional healing, and living as your authentic self.

I draw from several evidence-based therapeutic models and techniques to fit the specific needs of each client, including:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy
  • STAIR (Skills Training Affective and Emotional Regulation), Polyvagal therapy & Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma
