Counselling for Individuals

I tailor my approach to suit your needs and the number of sessions you can attend or afford. I acknowledge that everyone is different and requires a different therapeutic approach. The focus of therapy may be to help you:

  • Become more aware of your values, goals and life direction
  • Improve your relationships
  • Feel more optimistic about your life
  • Recover from the effects of abuse and trauma
  • To manage particular situations or hardship

Counselling Approach

My work focuses on developing a respectful and kind therapeutic relationship where you will be listened to without judgment. I support people in developing self-compassion to relate to themselves, others, and the environment a little more easily. I firmly believe in people’s capacity to heal.

I am trained in:

  • Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT)
  • Person centre approach
  • Strengths-based approach
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Treating PTSD and Complex Trauma
  • Artistic and creative therapies
  • Solution-focused approach

Background and Experience

I have a Masters of Counselling from the University of Auckland. I am a registered member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. I also have a graduate diploma in secondary school teaching and a strong knowledge of the New Zealand education system and curriculum. I have worked as a professional actor and performer.

I believe my life experiences around eating disorders, relationships, gender and sexuality, grief and perfectionism enable me to relate to many issues that clients bring to sessions.

I look forward to hearing from you.
