Counselling Services

Respectful conversations where we work together to understand what’s troubling you and to discover new ways of moving forward towards clarity, self-empowerment and change.

I have an intuitive style of counselling that brings together metaphor, creativity, sensitivity, humour, curiosity and humility, with a highly positive regard for all peoples ‘rangatiratanga’ (nobility and autonomy).

Counselling Approach

I encourage a reflective and collaborative partnership between clients and myself, where the work is primarily to bring clarity into areas of confusion, darkness or doubt, so that we may best uncover what is needed to address your specific needs as they arise. Every person brings their own story, and within these stories are the keys to understanding and change.

The bedrock of my practice is guided by Narrative Therapy (a modern short to medium-term psychotherapy). However, I call on other practices and modes to support the therapeutic work as and when they seem naturally relevant to the client. These practices include Mindfulness/meditation, Hakomi (somatic psychotherapy), CBT, Strengths/Solution-Focussed, and Non-violent Communication.

About Me

Born in England, I moved here in 2004 and since that time I have transitioned from working in the creative industry to a career in the helping professions. I have worked as a counsellor in the following organisations; Home and Family Counselling, Family Works Northern, and ManAlive. I am also a provider/counsellor for the ‘Your Choice’ programme, offered by The Youth Health Hub – Te Puna Manawa HealthWEST. I now work full-time in my private practice, located amongst the beautiful surroundings of Titirangi.
