Counselling Approach

I provide a safe space to land, whatever your  life situation may be at this moment in time. I hold whatever issues you bring with empathy and compassion.
I incorporate safe practice guidelines to support a professional assessment of needs arising from your personal set of circumstances.

I enjoy diversity and complexity, appreciating  the unique life experiences that all individuals have.  I bring cultural and spiritual sensitivity to every sessions’ content.

Background and Experience

I have been in Private Practice for the past 6 years and have worked with people presenting with a wide range of issues.  I have also worked in the alcohol and drug sector for the past 20 years. I have experience in both counselling and managerial roles in both residential and outpatient  settings here in Tamaki Makarau. My strengths are maximising your recovery capital while minimising stress and the potential for relapse.

In addition, I have lived experience in the recovery movement with 27 years of continuous recovery from alcohol and illicit drugs. I can work within either a 12 step, abstinence, or harm reduction framework.

My work is grounded in hope and my aim is to inspire clarity to whatever challenges you are facing.
