Working Together

I support adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward. People often come to therapy during times of stress, change, relationship difficulties, or when longstanding patterns no longer feel sustainable.

I have a particular interest in working with young adults navigating identity, relationships, life transitions, anxiety, and the pressures that can come with this stage of life.

Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand yourself — including the experiences, relationships, and coping strategies that have shaped you over time. Together, we can explore recurring patterns, strengthen self-awareness, and develop more meaningful and sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others.

What to Expect from Therapy

Therapy is more than simply talking about problems or receiving advice. I aim to offer a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you can feel genuinely heard and understood.

Our work may involve exploring how past experiences continue to shape your present life, deepening awareness of emotional and relational patterns, and finding new ways of responding to challenges. Alongside insight and reflection, therapy can also support greater self-compassion, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of agency in your life.

My Therapeutic Approach

My work is grounded primarily in Transactional Analysis (TA), a relational and humanistic approach that views people as inherently worthy and capable of growth and change. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or what feels ‘wrong,’ I work alongside clients to understand how their ways of coping and relating developed, and whether those patterns still serve them today.

I also integrate ideas from Gestalt therapy, Attachment Theory, and Neuroscience. In practice, this means I pay attention not only to thoughts and behaviours, but also to emotions, relationships, embodied experience, and the impact of early life experiences.

I see the therapeutic relationship itself as an important part of the healing process, and I value creating a space where authenticity, curiosity, and trust can develop over time.

Practical Information

My practice is close to full, but I do have some availability for new clients. I offer in-person sessions on Thursdays in Paraparaumu, Fridays in Wellington CBD, and a limited number of online Zoom appointments on Wednesday evenings.

I also offer ACC-funded therapy through the Sensitive Claims pathway for people who have experienced sexual harm or abuse. I understand that reaching out can feel difficult, and I’m happy to answer any questions about the process in a supportive and confidential way.

While I speak basic German, I’m not fluent enough to offer therapy fully in German. Please feel welcome to discuss this with me if relevant.

Finding the right therapist is important. You’re welcome to reach out if you’d like to see whether working together feels like a good fit.

FAQs

Q Is Psychotherapy the same as Counselling?

Yes and no. Both are usually talk-based and can be very helpful. Counselling often focuses more on current difficulties and the challenges happening around you, while psychotherapy tends to place greater emphasis on understanding what’s happening within you — including patterns shaped by early life experiences, relationships, and personality. This distinction isn’t absolute, and there is overlap, but psychotherapy aims to deepen self-understanding by exploring how past and present experiences influence your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour today.

Q What can I expect in the first session?

We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and whether working together feels like a good fit.
