Juciele Stander- Alcohol & Drug Assessments, Counselling & Supervision Services

A soft place to land, a strong place to grow - he wāhi māmā he ū, he wāhi kahu he tipu

About Me

Kia ora, I’m Juciele Stander, an Alcohol and Drug Clinician offering professional AOD assessments, reports, counselling, and supervision services across Tāmaki Makaurau – with the flexibility to meet online or in person.

I’m passionate about walking alongside individuals and whānau to create meaningful change –  especially where substance use has impacted wellbeing, relationships, or offending behaviour. My work is about helping people reconnect with themselves, their strengths, and what truly matters to them.

My Approach

Therapy, for me, is about slowing down and tuning in – creating a space where you can breathe, reflect, and be honest about what’s really happening for you. My approach is client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to support practical and lasting change.

I believe every person already holds the capacity for growth and recovery – sometimes we just need a bit of guidance and space to see it. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns, focusing on what’s working well, and gently addressing the areas where you feel stuck or uncertain.

I aim to meet you where you’re at – with curiosity, compassion, and a belief in your ability to move forward. Whether you’re looking to make sense of your relationship with substances, manage emotions, or rebuild connection with your whānau, our work together will always centre on you, your whānau, and your goals.

Q What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to counselling, what you’d like to work on, and how I can best support you. There’s no pressure to share everything at once - we move at your pace.

Q Is everything I share confidential?

Yes - confidentiality is a core part of counselling. What you share stays private, except in situations where safety is at risk. We’ll talk through this clearly in our first session.

Q What is your counselling style?

My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and culturally responsive. I blend evidence-based models (like CBT and motivational interviewing) with a holistic and strengths-based focus - seeing you as a whole person, not a diagnosis.
