Juciele Stander

Alcohol & Drug Counselling, assessments & supervision

Kia ora, I’m Juciele Stander, an Alcohol and Drug Clinician providing AOD counselling, assessments, clinical reports and supervision across Auckland, with the option of meeting in person or online.

I support individuals and family impacted by substance use, mental health challenges or offending-related stress. People often come to me feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next steps. Together, we work toward clarity, stability and meaningful, lasting change.

Clients commonly experience increased insight into their patterns, improved emotional regulation, reduced shame and greater confidence in decision-making. Over time, this often leads to healthier relationships, clearer communication and stronger alignment with personal values and life goals.

Services

  • AOD assessments (court, probation, NZTA, workplace)

  • Individual counselling (online or face-to-face)

  • Couples and family sessions

  • Clinical reports with tailored recommendations

  • Clinical and group supervision

My approach is client-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed, drawing on CBT and Motivational Interviewing. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where we focus on understanding what’s happening, what’s maintaining it, and what will genuinely support change – in ways that respect your culture, story and goals.

A soft place to land, a strong place to grow – He wāhi māmā he ū, he wāhi kahu he tipu

Q What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to counselling, what you’d like to work on, and how I can best support you. There’s no pressure to share everything at once - we move at your pace.

Q Is everything I share confidential?

Yes - confidentiality is a core part of counselling. What you share stays private, except in situations where safety is at risk. We’ll talk through this clearly in our first session.

Q What is your counselling style?

My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and culturally responsive. I blend evidence-based models (like CBT and motivational interviewing) with a holistic and strengths-based focus - seeing you as a whole person, not a diagnosis.
