Counselling Services

I offer in-person and online counselling, based in Avonside/Linwood. I work with individuals aged 16 and above.

Generally, my sessions are 60 minutes, but I aim to be flexible about meeting clients’ needs.

I welcome enquiries and am happy to respond to any questions about working with me.

I have particular experience and expertise in working with people with eating difficulties/disorders and/or body image issues, but I also work with clients with a full range of issues.

Counselling Approach

For me, counselling is a space for my client to reflect on thoughts, experiences or emotions that often go unvoiced. It is a place to explore putting words around things that are often silent and can feel fixed, certain and inevitable.

Life can be challenging. Creating dialogue can help us see things differently, and to consider other perspectives or ideas. We can take those insights from the counselling experience into our lives, learn how to hold onto them and find that change is always possible even when things are most difficult.

My role is to hold the focus of the session and assist the client’s progress with enquiry and curiosity. I am passionate about the process of discovering solutions and new perspectives, without prescription or judgement. I concentrate on being present for the client, who I encourage to be daring in their work with me.

Background & Experience

I have worked in mental health for over twenty years, for the past thirteen as a fully qualified counsellor. I have worked in the NGO sector, tertiary education settings and private practice. I recently returned to Christchurch after nine years in Auckland.

My ancestors came to Aotearoa from England, Scotland, Ireland and Poland. I grew up in Blenheim.
