Kriti Soni

Counsellor

About Me

Kia ora, I’m Kriti —

I’m a counsellor with a heart for walking alongside people as they navigate the complex terrain of healing, growth, and self-discovery. My work is grounded in compassion, creativity, and curiosity, with a focus on helping you reconnect with your inner strength and sense of wholeness.

Having lived and worked across both Indian and New Zealand cultural contexts, I bring a deep appreciation for multiculturalism and the richness and challenges that come with holding multiple identities. I understand the nuances of young adulthood, cultural transition, and belonging — and how these experiences shape our sense of self.

I believe in the power of culturally responsive therapy that honours your story, values, and background, while offering evidence-based support for your mental health and wellbeing. My hope is to provide a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow into the most authentic version of yourself.

My Counselling Approach

I provide individual therapy for young people and adults, offering a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your emotions, challenges, and hopes.

My work is integrative and holistic, drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches to meet your unique needs. I believe that each person already holds the wisdom and capacity to heal — therapy simply helps you reconnect with that inner strength and authenticity.

I take a person-centred and trauma-informed approach, while also integrating elements from pluralistic, creative, and body-based practices. I value collaboration, curiosity, and compassion in the therapeutic process, tailoring my methods to what works best for you.

I also hold a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and work respectfully with clients from diverse cultural, spiritual, and social backgrounds.

Experience & Background

I hold full membership with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) and bring both local and international experience to my work.

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from the University of Auckland, as well as a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from leading universities in India. My background has given me a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the many ways people make sense of their worlds.

Over the years, I’ve worked with individuals across a range of settings in both New Zealand and India, supporting clients through issues such as:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Relationship and family challenges
  • Trauma and abuse recovery
  • Identity, self-worth, and confidence
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions and personal growth

My passion lies in helping people feel seen, understood, and empowered — guiding them to attune to their feelings, connect with their bodies, and move toward greater emotional balance and fulfilment.

Whether you’re navigating a difficult life event or simply seeking deeper self-understanding, I will meet you with warmth, honesty, and an unwavering belief in your ability to heal and flourish.
