I prefer face-to-face counselling, although I can also offer online appointments if that suits you better.
I see myself as your “chauffeur,” leading the you to the destination at a pace that suits you, and taking a safe route so you feel comfortable. This sense of safety represents my Person-Centred Approach, where we explore the issues as equals. I am in the “waka” with you, and as such, I respect your beliefs and values. In the busyness of the modern age, our minds can easily become overwhelmed, and it is easy to feel that our thoughts do not represent what is “real”.
My experience includes working with couples and relationships, anxiety, trauma, low mood and depression. I also work extensively with older clients (over 60s) and those who have experienced negative father issues.
I take a collaborative approach with the clients, my preferred counselling methods include Person-Centred, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based with some leanings towards Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples and relationships. Many of my clients also enjoy Mindfulness, Letterwriting and Sandplay.
