I’m Lee (they/them), a counsellor based in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
My counselling practice is shaped by years of experience in social justice work–advocating for rainbow affirming spaces and practices across Aotearoa. I take special interest in supporting trans and/or queer folks and their whānau.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in a blend of Solutions-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. I also draw on my knowledge of systemic injustices to contextualise the challenges clients face and the healing power of community, connection, and pride to sustain us. These approaches and perspectives enable me to offer a flexible, collaborative space for clients to explore their experiences and build on what’s already going well.
I work from a place of deep curiosity, always attuned to peoples’ strengths and exceptions, and committed to supporting folks nurture self-compassion. I believe that good things take time—and that taking time is one of the most radical acts of care we can offer ourselves.
Outside of counselling, I’m an avid trail runner, enthusiastic cyclist, lifelong skier, and wannabe surfer.
Before beginning counselling, I am happy to offer a free 10-15 min chat with folks who want to see if we could work well together. This is done via phone call.
