Liz Gilchrist

Counsellor

I am passionate about supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals. How I relate to others has always been important to me and I am sensitive to the individual qualities of those whom I interact with. I am guided by evidence and strengths-based practice. I have a variety of skills that I have developed through my education and work as an addictions counsellor and family therapist. I have supported people to implement plans that aim to reduce the risks of harm and help progress towards finding healthier coping strategies. I have become highly adaptable through these experiences and my unwavering goal remains to contribute positively to society and to the wellbeing of others.

I have experience in working with adults, groups and families. I’ve worked from a number of different therapeutic approaches such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems, Relapse Prevention, Mindfulness, Psycho-Education, Solution-Focused and Holistic Wellbeing.
