Counselling/Therapy Services

I have worked with clients from young children to older adults, both male and female, of varying sexual orientation, religious beliefs, social background and ethnicities. I believe that my own ability to live with deep involvement in my own Chinese culture and in my adopted culture of New Zealand supports my ability to work with clients who have different areas of comfort and need.

I have a particular interest in working with couples and families who wish to rebuild their relationships and with people who have experienced family violence.

Counselling/Therapy Approach

I work from a client-centred approach with evidence-based interventions drawn from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-focused Therapy, Family Therapy, Imago Couple Therapy and so on to adapt to each client’s individual needs.

Background and Experience

I am originally from China and have been living in Auckland since 2002. Since 2003, I have worked in schools, universities, and community agencies—initially as an intern counsellor while completing my Master’s degree, and later as a qualified counsellor following graduation. I became a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors in 2008. I bring extensive experience in individual, couple, and family counselling, as well as group facilitation, including programmes such as Train the Trainer, parenting education, and the Strong Couple Programme. In addition, I have received training in supervision and have experience providing supervision to other professionals.
