Counselling Approach

Counselling is a safe space just for you. It is warm, confidential and non-judgemental.

Counselling can help you to explore thoughts and feelings, hopes, dreams and any struggles in your life. We can work together to identify your many skills, strengths, values and abilities that can assist in reducing the influence of problems in your life.

I come from the understanding that every persons mental health journey is different and therapy can be tailored to suit your needs. I am pluralistically trained in counselling and I use a strengths-based, person-centered approach. I consistently draw from principles and elements of Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Solutions focused brief therapy.

I value my lived experience of being a parent, child of immigrants and a person of colour. These experiences enhance my practice and understanding of the many intersections within society that impact our lives in different ways. I am welcoming of clients from all backgrounds and identities.

Background and Experience

I have over 10years of experience working with young people and university students. I have experience working in both the public and private sector.

Alongside my private practice I enjoy working two days a week as a Little Shadow counsellor and group therapy facilitator supporting parents in the perinatal period.

Frequency of sessions can be different from person to person based on a variety of factors (e.g., presenting concerns, goals, availability, etc.)

Together we can determine what will work best for you in the first session. Generally, at the beginning of treatment, most people prefer sessions on a weekly basis in order to build momentum.

As progress is made, they may then transition to fortnightly, or even monthly sessions.
