Maxwell Sweeney

Counselling that empowers you

Kia ora, I’m Maxwell

I specialise in supporting people dealing with:

  • anxiety
  • addiction (porn and substance)
  • depression
  • grief
  • insomnia
  • trauma
  • stress
  • relationships
  • school / work stress

My career background spans counselling men at the Canterbury Men’s Centre, addictions support work, and disability support work. Also, I am from the UK so I uniquely understand the challenge of immigrating to a new country.

These life experiences mean I can support you if you feel caught in a negative pattern. If something’s weighing on you, I’m here to help.

Approach

Drawing on my three years of formal training, my approach integrates Person-Centred and Narrative Therapy. This means we’ll work together at your pace, without judgment. We’ll explore how life experiences, relationships, and societal pressures shape your story—and how you can rewrite it in a way that empowers you.

Final word

Taking the first step towards counselling can be tough, but you don’t have to do it alone. Give me a call or an email so we can explore how I can support you. If you are uncertain about times or costs, message me to discuss options. Follow my website link to book.
