Maxwell Sweeney

Counselling that empowers you

Kia ora, I’m Maxwell

I specialise in supporting people dealing with:

  • anxiety
  • addiction (porn and substance)
  • criminal charges
  • depression
  • grief
  • insomnia
  • trauma
  • stress
  • relationships
  • school / work stress

My career background spans counselling at the Canterbury Men’s Centre and Hagley College. I have extensive experience in addictions and disability support work, and with counselling teens and adults.

My training and experience mean I can support you if you feel caught in a negative pattern. If something’s weighing on you, I’m here to help.

Approach

Drawing on my three years of formal training, my approach integrates Person-Centred and Narrative Therapy. We’ll explore how life experiences, relationships, and societal pressures shape your story—and how you can rewrite it in a way that empowers you.

Final word

Taking the first step towards counselling can be tough, but you don’t have to do it alone. Give me a call or an email so we can explore how I can support you. If you are uncertain about times or costs, message me to discuss options. Follow my website link to book.
