Melissa O’Shaughnessy

Counsellor

Counselling Services:

My counselling approach is fully tailored to your unique story and needs. I integrate a blend of evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Art Therapy, to support your healing and growth. Each session is designed around what resonates most with you, creating a truly personalised experience.

I specialise in working with young people, guiding them through the challenges and transitions of this important stage of life. At the same time, I also work with adults, offering support through a wide range of personal and emotional difficulties.

I have particular expertise working with:

  • Self-harm and suicidal ideation
  • Neurodiversity
  • Emotional regulation
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Spiritual and personal development

Counselling Approach:

Our sessions are guided by a pluralistic approach, which embraces the understanding that each individual has distinct preferences and needs. Rather than adhering to a single therapeutic method, the focus is on collaboratively identifying the most effective strategies tailored specifically to you. Some clients may find value in structured, goal-oriented guidance, while others benefit from a more reflective exploration of thoughts and emotions. For some, examining past experiences can illuminate the roots of present difficulties, whereas others may prioritize addressing current patterns of thinking and behaviour that affect their daily life. This flexible approach recognises that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process but an evolving partnership that adapts to support your unique journey towards well-being.
