Professional Development for Health Improvement Practitioners
Flex & Flourish as a HIP in Aotearoa is a practical, NZ-context professional development course designed specifically for Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) working in primary care and community settings.
A Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) is a registered health professional (commonly a psychologist, social worker, nurse, or occupational therapist) working within general practice teams to support people with brief, focused interventions around wellbeing, behaviour change, and mental health — often within 30-minute consultations and alongside medical care.
Created and facilitated by Alysha Simonsen, psychologist and one of Aotearoa’s early HIPs, this course is grounded in the realities of the role and the unique challenges of working in NZ primary care.
Flex & Flourish focuses on helping HIPs:
The course blends short, self-paced modules with live components, real-world examples, and practical strategies that can be used immediately in clinical practice.
For HIPs who want to work smarter, not harder, and build a sustainable, fulfilling way of working in primary care.
