Empowerment Psychology is a growing private practice clinic in Auckland CBD dedicated to providing neurodiverse affirming care. We specialize in assessment and therapy for clients with ADHD and autism, serving both children and adults, as well as individuals dealing with trauma. Our mission is to empower our clients through compassionate and effective psychological services. We have established strong connections with private pediatricians and psychiatrist clinics, enabling us to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary care for our clients.

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Educational Psychologist to join our team on a contracting basis. The primary focus of this role is to conduct comprehensive learning assessments for children and adults, using standardised tools such as the WISC-V, WAIS-IV, and WIAT-III, and to produce high-quality assessment reports with tailored recommendations.

The ideal candidate will also be skilled in working collaboratively with clients and their families, and, ideally, be able to provide therapeutic or educational support post-assessment (e.g., interventions for dyslexia, dyscalculia, or dysgraphia).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and interpret cognitive and educational assessments (WISC, WAIS, WIAT).
  • Write clear, comprehensive, and practical assessment reports with recommendations.
  • Provide feedback to clients, families, and referrers in a supportive and accessible way.
  • Work with clients across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults).
  • (Optional/bonus) Deliver evidence-based interventions or support following assessments (e.g., therapy, coaching, or educational support for learning differences).
  • Collaborate with the Empowerment Psychology team to ensure best-practice service delivery.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration as a Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board, with a current practising certificate.
  • Experience in conducting educational/learning assessments for children and/or adults.
  • Proficiency with WISC, WAIS, and WIAT assessments.
  • Strong report-writing skills with the ability to provide clear and practical recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with children, adults, and families.

Desirable (Bonus) Skills:

  • Experience delivering interventions for learning differences (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia).
  • Ability to provide psychoeducation, guidance, or coaching post-assessment.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary or collaborative team environment.

Contract Details:

  • Contracting position, part-time/casual (flexible days).
  • Competitive contracting rate based on experience.
