Through the process of counselling our perspective of problems loosens and becomes more pliable, bringing openness to change and a lighter view.
I will provide a safe setting with non-judgemental, inquisitive inquiry, gentle reflection and a totally client centered space.
I will not fit you into a way of working that does not suit your style. I can use a number of different counselling methods depending on your individual preference. These include: focusing therapy (working with feelings in the body to develop understanding of trauma), solution focused therapy, mindfulness meditation, narrative therapy, nature/eco therapy, elements of dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), and existential therapy.
These methods sit on a person-centered base, which means you the client will always be treated with genuineness, congruence, empathy, compassion and respect.
I have worked as a counsellor since 2006, at the Wellington Peoples Centre, Hutt Valley High School, Mary Potter Hospice, Conversations Counselling, and as an independent operator for a number of years.
Before becoming a counsellor I have had a wide variety of employment/vocations in different positions, which has given me a good understanding of people’s different natures and experiences.
Like all of us, I have had an eventful life with many challenges and learnings. I have grown to be able to use these challenges as fuel for new ways of thinking and bring this authenticity to my counselling practice.
