Play Therapist – part time role

The Change Place is a specialist family violence agency, and our multi-disciplinary clinicians work with victim-survivors and users of family violence across the whole of the Rodney area.

We are now seeking a qualified child-centred Play Therapist to join our passionate and inclusive team.

With a purposely designed playroom in Whangaparāoa and another in Warkworth, we can offer play therapy in these areas and their surrounds, including Wellsford and Helensville.

Referrals are made to our agency for tamariki aged from 3 to 10 who have been impacted by family violence. Through the magic of play therapy these tamariki can enact their experiences and work through big feelings in a safe and contained way so that they can start to feel soothed and healed.

Ideally you will have experience of working with family violence and an understanding of how this might show up in children’s play. If you don’t have this experience, we would still love to hear from you as we offer a thorough induction and ongoing training to provide a solid analysis of family violence to compliment your qualifications and play therapy experience.

As the Play Therapist role includes parenting support, you will require an understanding of parental strategies and responses to children who have experienced developmental trauma.

If you are client-centred in your approach, are passionate about your work with tamariki and whanau, have a sound knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the impacts of ongoing colonisation, have the ability to work with diversity, are self-motivated and enjoy being part of an interactive team, then we would love to hear from you.
