I would like to support you in finding your best personal ways to regulate emotions, calm your nervous system and gain a greater easier tolerance.  With focus on building skills how to more enjoy grounding yourself in what’s happening today without being distracted by past events or regrets.

Finding ways to cultivate hope, acceptance, gratitude and mana can lead to you feeling happier and therefore maintaining greater health.

My approach is eclectic. The basis is person centered but I borrow from many other modalities like acceptance and commitment therapy, solution  focused therapy, CBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, Non Violent Communication, Trauma approaches and Mindfulness.

 

About Me

I am an experienced supervisor, counsellor, mentor and mental health nurse who has worked extensively in the non-profit, health and wellbeing sectors, parallel to a 30 year nursing career in the Christchurch Specialist Mental Health service.

I currently work in private practice on a casual basis for Pathways at their Te ao Marama facility in Christchurch as a Mental health registered nurse. Te ao Marama provides a peer led, acute mental health service. 

In the past I have worked as a counsellor at Petersgate Counselling Centre and have been a brief intervention co-ordinator for a local Primary Health Organisation.

Q Where do you work from?

- Most sessions are online. But I can see Christchurch supervisees or clients face to face in my private practice in Huntsbury.

- I can see Tauranga supervisees/clients minimally monthly in my private practice in Tauranga suburb Greerten/Parkvale.

Q Tell me more about supervision and coaching.

I see the supervisee as a whole person and believes all aspects of yourself including lifestyle and cultural background, can play a part in the functioning of the professional persona. I will create the space for you to safely reflect on your perspectives and support you checking in with yourself for a deeper explorations and reflections on your professional needs. Habitual thoughts patterns and perceptions possibly holding your back from growing your career or feeling comfortable in your profession.
My focus in supervision is on gaining new insights and foster self-regulation to become an increasingly advanced professional practitioner. Learning from your thoughts regarding your work practice leads to insight and integration which promotes safe practice.
Previously supervision was provided to Mental Health staff, managers, chaplaincy, counsellors, health coaches, brief interventions therapy, social workers, workers who do mahi with prisoners and domestic violence. This included supervision for a Kaupapa Maori organization.

Q Do you have an adjusted fee for volunteers, students or low income earners?

- Supervision and counselling is $110 for a 50min hour session.
- This is negotiable for volunteers, students and low income earners.
