Creative counselling for people who feel deeply

About Me / Approach

I am a registered Creative Arts Therapist offering online therapy and counselling for adults (18+).

I work especially well with people who feel deeply, think creatively, or experience the world in non-linear ways. Therapy with me is not about fixing or diagnosing you, but about creating a steady, supportive space to explore what’s happening in your life and body, and to develop resources that genuinely fit who you are.

My work is grounded in relational, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and sensory-aware practice, with a strong emphasis on safety, collaboration, and going at your pace.

Sessions are grounded in conversation and may also include reflective exercises, imagery, writing, or simple creative processes. All approaches are optional and led by what feels most helpful for you.

Who I Work With

I work with adults experiencing:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm
  • Low mood or depression
  • Stress and burnout
  • Identity questions and life transitions
  • Relationship and family challenges
  • Grief and loss
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • Trauma (mild to moderate)

I often work well with adults who are:

  • Highly sensitive, creative, or emotionally attuned
  • Exploring identity, belonging, or difference
  • Feeling out of step with dominant systems, expectations, or norms

I welcome LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent adults, including those who are questioning, late-identified, or still finding language for their experience. I am affirming of consensual non-monogamous and diverse relationship structures.

I approach this work with curiosity, humility, and a strong commitment to ongoing supervision and professional development.

To ensure safety and appropriate care, I am not currently working with:

  • Clients experiencing active suicidal ideation or high-risk crisis
  • Severe or complex mental health presentations requiring intensive or in-person support

If this applies, I’m happy to help you think about other support options.

Cultural & Values Statement

My practice is identity-affirming and grounded in respect for diversity, difference, and lived experience. I work with care around power, consent, and boundaries, and aim to create a space where you can bring your whole self.

FAQs

Q Do I need to be creative or good at art?

No. Creative Arts Therapy is not about artistic skill. We mostly talk, and any creative or reflective approaches are optional and very simple. You don’t need any experience or materials.

Q What happens in a typical session?

Sessions are grounded in conversation. We’ll talk about what’s been going on for you and what support you’re looking for. If it feels helpful, we may also use reflection, imagery, writing, or simple creative exercises. We go at your pace and regularly check in about what’s working.

Q Are sessions online or in person?

All Talking Works sessions are currently offered online via Zoom.

Q What kinds of issues can you help with?

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties, identity questions, life transitions, and mild to moderate trauma-related distress.

Q Do you work in a neurodiversity-affirming way?

Yes. My practice is flexible, sensory-aware, and responsive to different ways of thinking, feeling, and processing. Sessions are adapted to suit your needs and preferences.

Q Do I need to talk the whole time?

No. Talking is always available, but you don’t have to fill the space. Silence, reflection, or working with imagery or writing are all welcome if helpful.

Q What if I’m not sure therapy is right for me?

That’s okay. Many people begin therapy feeling unsure. We can take time to explore what you’re hoping for and whether this approach feels like a good fit.

Q What if I’m in crisis or feeling unsafe?

Because I work online and in a reflective style, I’m not the right fit for active crisis or urgent mental health needs. If you’re feeling unsafe, it’s important to contact your local crisis service, mental health team, or emergency services for immediate support.

Q Is this service confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential, with the usual professional and legal limits to confidentiality explained at the beginning of our work together.
