A deeply relational counsellor offering clear life skills. Highly effective in supporting clients to develop awareness and understanding of patterns that undermine the quality of life they seek. Experienced in working with a diversity of cultures and sexual orientations.
People come to counselling for a variety of reasons – to understand thoughts and feelings; to explore current and past experiences; to develop effective coping strategies; to improve relationships and interact more effectively with others; to identify what has meaning and discover new pathways.
Everyone deserves to experience empathy, acceptance and to know their own value. Experienced in working with a diversity of cultures and sexual orientations. I work both short and long term. I am able to see teens and adults. In essence my role as a counsellor is to facilitate healing in a way that enhances self empowerment, wellness and interconnectedness with life.
Every person has their own unique story, a different set of needs, aspirations, personal struggles and strengths. Highly effective psychodynamic holistic counsellor while offering practical life skills. I provide an integrated counselling approach drawing on different modalities dependent on individual needs for support.
I am a first generation Chinese New Zealander born and raised in Gisborne. Culturally aware, I have a strong sense of justice and fairness. I come from a broad working background encompassing teaching in secondary schools; hospitality; arts and film industry. Integral to this is a love of working with people, their respective communities and the diversity this brings.
I have the privilege of being a counsellor for 10 years working with Adults and Youth from diverse backgrounds. I have worked extensively with youth in the secondary schools as a counsellor in south and central Auckland. And remain connected with secondary schools through short term contracts to cover staff leave or to provide extra support. Since late 2018, a majority of my work has focused on the private sector where I see mainly adults in private practice and via corporate counseling. I make space to see a small number of adolescents where I can offer appointments no later than 4pm.
