Counselling Services

People come to counselling for a variety of reasons – to understand thoughts and feelings; to explore current and past experiences; to develop effective coping strategies; to improve relationships and interact more effectively with others; to identify what has meaning and discover new pathways.

Everyone deserves to experience empathy, acceptance and to know their own value. Experienced in working with a diversity of cultures and sexual orientations. I work both short and long term. I am able to see teens and adults. In essence my role as a counsellor is to facilitate healing in a way that enhances self empowerment, wellness and interconnectedness with life.

Counselling Approach

Every person has their own unique story, a different set of needs, aspirations, personal struggles and strengths. Highly effective psychodynamic holistic counsellor while offering practical life skills. I provide an integrated counselling approach drawing on different modalities dependent on individual needs for support.

Background and Experience

I am a first generation Chinese New Zealander born and raised in Gisborne. Culturally aware, I have a strong sense of justice and fairness. I come from a broad working background encompassing teaching in secondary schools; hospitality; arts and film industry. Integral to this is a love of working with people, their respective communities and the diversity this brings.

I have 8 years in seat as a counsellor. This encompasses work with adolescents in schools and private practice; adults through corporate counselling and private practice. I also have experience in group facilitation, running restoratives and collaborating on programs to develop skills in resilience and learning for young people.
