Connection and meaning are key aspects of counselling. Through empathic relational connection, I support the client to strengthen their connection to themselves and others.
Counselling involves developing:
I work with each individual client and tailor my therapeutic approach according to their needs and wants. Although I mainly draw from Person-centered and Solution-focused therapy modalities, I often integrate aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Polyvagal theory.
However, my therapeutic foundation is rooted in Person-centered therapy. This means I trust that every client has an inherent wisdom of what they need for self-actualisation and wellbeing. I foster this by offering the core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.
I have a special interest and experience with cultural and neuro-diversity, trauma, anxiety, depression, separation/abandonment, chronic pain/illness.
Due to my integration of person-centered and solution-focused therapy, I cater to clients who want/need short term (usually between 3 and 6 sessions) therapy, and clients who have the funding and time to allow for a longer term approach where we can work with more issues and go to a deeper level of therapy.
