Counselling should be a safe space where all parts of yourself are welcome. Somewhere where you can hold aspects of your life up to the light to study, developing clarity and insight. A place where you can truly get to know and care for yourself better.
We all come to counselling for different reasons. It may be for support during times of heightened stress, to fill one’s kete with tools and techniques for enhanced wellbeing, or to explore trauma and make meaning. Sometimes life is just a lot and we need someone to talk to in a safe and confidential space, with a cup of tea!
I believe that counselling has the potential to empower us and equip us to grow more than we may have even imagined possible. Many people are surprised by how powerful simple techniques are for identifying what they are feeling and creating a greater sense of calm and safety in their bodies.
I use multiple modalities in my trauma informed collaborative work with clients. My approach is influenced by Internal Family Systems and weaves together self compassion, nervous system psychoeducation and somatic awareness. Together we can assess what is working well, what is no longer serving you and what’s needed to help you move forward.
My experience has been working with women of all ages to navigate a variety of issues, develop self awareness, build resilience and support the development of tools, techniques and knowledge to uplift and empower.
My background positions include counselling roles at The Wellington Women’s Health Collective and the Lower Hutt Women’s Centre. I was also a facilitator of Self Esteem for Teens workshops at the Lower Hutt Women’s Centre.
I look forward to connecting with you.
