The Counselling Room with Alison Lee – Matamata & Cambridge

Compassionate and confidential counselling, grounded in autonomy, respect and connection.

I work from a collaborative, strengths-based framework, recognising clients as the experts in their own lives. I honour the belief that clients bring the wisdom of their lived experience, while I bring therapeutic knowledge and support to assist in uncovering insights, strengths, and pathways forward. Therapeutic work is guided by client autonomy and paced according to individual needs and readiness.

I work with individuals, couples, and whānau, and I also facilitate group and whānau-based sessions where appropriate.

I work across both Western and Māori frameworks to support a wide range of presenting concerns, including:

  • Anxiety, depression, and severe anxiety
  • Trauma, traumatic grief, and grief
  • Sexual violence, sexual abuse, and rape
  • Parenting stress and family challenges
  • Anger, emotional overwhelm, and emotional regulation
  • Work-related stress, burnout, and life transitions
  • Boundaries, relationships, and goal setting
  • Identity exploration and emotional shadow work

When engaging in counselling with me, clients can expect acceptance, respect, compassion, and transparency. There are no assumptions, no pressure, and no one-size-fits-all approaches. Together, we work at a pace that honours each person’s values, identity, wellbeing, and right to self-determination.
